All of these aspects can be experienced through fragrance.

Thankfully, fragrance masters have made discovering the ideal perfume a little easier than matching you with the perfect date. After scouring the perfume archives for some of the most popular and most interesting eau de toilettes on the market, we found scents with a proven track record for intrigue. 19 Most Comfortable High Heels of 2022

Our feet have been experiencing some serious high heel hibernation ever since the coronavirus pandemic hit more than two years ago. But at last, the days of night clubs and social events seem to be returning (knock on wood?), and we can finally say goodbye to the Zoom uniform of business on the top and barefoot on the bottom. While we’re certainly excited to get back to our favorite platforms and pumps, our forced break from them has changed one thing—our priorities.

Comfort matters to people now more than ever, as evidenced by the rise of athleisure, matching sets, and literally any pants that aren’t rigid denim. Heels aren’t going anywhere, but comfort has definitely shifted to the forefront. We know “comfortable heels” sounds like a bit of an oxymoron. Even the patroness saint of pumps, Sarah Jessica Parker, admitted that no heel will last you for hours on end. But has that ever stopped you from wearing a pair of strappy stilettos to a swanky party? Our guess is no. With that in mind, we spoke to celebrity podiatrist Dr. Suzanne Levine, DPM about what makes a comfortable high heel, from heights to materials. We also got her insight on bunions and different foot concerns that can be aggravated by heel-wearing. Lucky for us, Levine is a heel lover herself and doesn’t discourage them. On the contrary, she enables us: “High heel shoes are not good for you, but we love them anyway.”

All feet are different. You should try on each shoe, walk around in them, and make sure they are comfortable for your own feet. The key is moderation, and alternating heel heights depending on your activity. For standing up to eight hours, your ideal heel height should stay at two inches; increase the height, and you limit the time you can spend on your feet. “It’s like having your cake, but not making it a daily activity,” says Levine. “It doesn’t have to be done every day or in excess, but there is nothing wrong with wearing a fabulous pair of heels.” Amen to that.

Also, remember to stretch and exercise your feet, use creams, and take breaks. It is helpful to buy over-the-counter metatarsal pads for the balls of your feet for extra cushion. “My patients don’t give [heels] up, but you have to do something to counteract them,” she adds.

Ahead, our edit includes tips for finding the best heels that will last you all night (or until that acceptable hour when every woman removes their heels on the dance floor). Read on for more intel from the pro, along with ELLE editors’ personal favorite heels that strike the balance between style and comfort, below.

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson Secretly Engaged Before Paternity Scandal

The Kardashians reality show revealed that Khloé Kardashian rejected a proposal from her on-off ex Tristan Thompson in December 2020. The two broke up for good when Kardashian learned he cheated on her and fathered a child with personal trainer Maralee Nichols. That baby was born in December 2021, at the same time a surrogate was secretly carrying Kardashian and Thompson’s own second child, who was born this summer.

Now, Buzzfeed and Entertainment Tonight are reporting that Thompson proposed a second time in secret…and Kardashian accepted. They were privately engaged for months—including when Thompson cheated on Kardashian with Nichols and fathered their child. Here, all the reveals that came out today about the paternity scandal and their relationship status before and during it.

Thompson proposed to Kardashian a second time in secret and she accepted.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that Kardashian accepted Thompson’s second proposal in February 2021. Nichols and Thompson’s affair happened that March, which resulted in her pregnancy with their son.

Multiple sources with “insider knowledge” additionally told Buzzfeed that actually, Thompson first proposed in December 2019, not 2020. Kardashian didn’t accept the proposal then. When he popped the question a second time in February 2021, she did say yes, and the two were engaged until the paternity scandal broke in December.

Why Kardashian turned down Thompson’s first proposal

Kardashian, in the series, explained why she turned down Thompson the first time. Her sister Kim revealed that Kardashian chose to hide the news of the first proposal from the family initially.

“The fact that he proposed and you never told us,” Kim Kardashian said to Khloé Kardashian, via People. “And I asked him months later … the night after I thought it happened [Valentine’s Day 2021] and he’s like, ‘Oh, I did it months ago, she didn’t tell you guys?’”

Kardashian explained in a confessional why she turned down Thompson: “I said, ‘I need to make sure this is a totally different relationship because I wanna be proud to say I’m engaged to anyone.’ And that’s why I said, ‘I’m not comfortable accepting this right now because I’m not excited to tell my family,’ and as hurtful as that probably was for him to hear, it was the truth. I’m not ever gonna accept something or give someone false hope, and I said that to him.”

Kardashian has traumatic brain damage seemingly from Thompson’s cheating scandals.

The series also revealed that Kardashian suffered brain damage seemingly in part because of Thompson’s cheating scandals, with footage airing of Kardashian having a scan done, and Dr. Daniel Amen explaining how her subtle changes in brain patterns were indicative of past trauma she faced, according to TMZ. Thompson had his first cheating scandal in 2018 while Kardashian was heavily pregnant with the then-couple’s first child, their now-4-year-old daughter True Thompson.

Kardashian’s sisters worried about her weight loss after the paternity scandal.

Footage also aired of Kardashian’s sisters worrying about her weight loss because of the paternity scandal. Kim Kardashian told her in the show, via E!, “You look very skinny. I will say that Kendall and Kylie, not that I’m trying to out them, but they did text me and say that they were a little concerned for you, because you’re really skinny.”

Kardashian admitted she was struggling with Thompson’s paternity scandal in a confessional. “The hardest part about it all is training yourself to unlove someone,” she said. “This was my life for six years. And we weren’t just a couple—we genuinely were best friends. He was my workout buddy. We did all these things together. And so learning how to undo all those things, that takes time. Just because someone does you dirty doesn’t mean you fall out of love with them instantly.”

Kardashian being secretly engaged to Thompson adds a layer of intensity to everything the show depicted. Kardashian has not confirmed the engagement herself, although she did post Instagram photos around that time depicting her wearing a massive diamond ring, like this shot from April 2021.

What are shower caps used for?

Shower caps are a preventative tool used to keep moisture at bay while showering. If you don’t wash your hair every day, shower caps are great for preserving hairstyles until your next wash day. When wash day rolls around, shower caps can also be used to create heat when deep conditioning, too.

Which type of shower cap is best?

While reusable shower caps are great for your pockets and the environment, sometimes they can trap moisture and produce mold. Opting for a shower cap that can be washed after each use and maintain its elasticity is a better investment.

What should you look for?

Shower caps that are washable, have great stretch for all hair types, and have a satin lining. Caps with satin lining prevent frizz and breakage. Take it a step further and invest in a satin bonnet.

Selena Gomez Breaks Silence After Hailey Bieber’s Call Her Daddy Interview

One day after Hailey Bieber’s Call Her Daddy interview came out where Hailey spoke for the first time publicly about whether Justin Bieber ever dated her and his on-off ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez at the same time, Selena made a brief and rare appearance online to thank her fans for their support.

She reminded them in a TikTok live that some fans captured footage of that the words you say about other people matter. Selena did not, in the clips captured and shared online, address Hailey’s interview explicitly. This is the first time Selena has broken her silence since the interview’s release though, adding extra weight to the message.

Selena said at the end of her live: “I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting. And it’s not fair because no one ever should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen and all I have to say is it’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words [her makeup line Rare Beauty’s Kind Words Matte lipstick and lip liners, which Gomez did a press tour of Europe to promote] ’cause that’s exactly what I want. That’s it. If you support Rare, I cannot thank you enough, but know that you are also representing what it means and that is words matter. Truly matter. So it’s coming from me, and I just want all of you to know that I hope that you understand that this is much bigger than anything else. I’m really grateful to all of you for hearing me out, so have a wonderful rest of your day, and I appreciate all the love. Thank you.”

This content is imported from twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

In the viral Call Her Daddy interview, Hailey discussed her relationship with Gomez now and suggested that Gomez did not ever publicly defend her from the hate that fans of Justin and Selena leveled at Hailey. Gomez did, in fact, go on Instagram Live and asked her fans not to attack anyone when they were harassing Hailey in October 2019 and has faced harassment from Hailey’s fans too.

Hailey was nervous to talk about the situation but chose to do so anyway to set the record straight definitively.

On their history, Hailey denied any overlap. She and Justin got back together in June 2018, months after Justin and Selena, who dated on-off for 10 years, went on a break turned breakup in March 2018.

Hailey was also on-off with Justin. “I had been involved with him since I was 18,” she said. “The timeline also that sometimes is in question of us getting together then getting engaged and him having been spending time with his ex before that, this is so crazy. I’ve literally never talked about this ever. I understand, again, how it looks from the outside. There’s a lot of perception there. But that was a situation where I know for a fact that it was the right thing for them to close that door. They were not in a relationship at that time, but there’s a very long history there, and it’s not my relationship. It has nothing to do with me, so I respect that a lot, but I know that it closed a chapter, and I think it was the best thing that could’ve happened for him to move on and be engaged and get married and move on with his life in that way.

“And it’s hard for me to talk about this because I don’t want to talk on either one of their behalf, again, because it was their relationship, and I honestly respect that very deeply. But I just know what was going on when we got back together, and I know what had to happen for that to come back together in a healthy way. And I think it was the most healthy, mature decision that he could’ve made, and I respect that.

“As a woman, I would never want to get into a relationship with someone and be engaged to them and be getting married to them and think in the back of my mind, I wonder if that was really like, closed for you. And I know for a fact that the reason we were able to get back together was because it was very much completely closed. And that is respectful to me.”

As for her relationship with Selena, Hailey revealed the two had spoken one-on-one in private. “Yes, [we have spoken]. Yes [we have spoken after my marriage],” she said. “So that’s why I’m like, it’s all respect, it’s all love. It’s also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened, and we’re good and we could walk away with clarity and respect, then that’s fine. Which had brought me a lot of peace, and I’m like, ‘hey, we know what happened. It is what it is.’ You’re never going to be able to correct every narrative, and there’s going to be new ones that come [from this interview]. It’s never going to end, and that’s why I get to the point where like, that’s why I didn’t speak about a lot of this stuff because I’m like, there will be something new. ”

You can read Hailey’s full comments on the situation here.

Mahsa Amini’s Death and What “Bad Hijab” Really Means

Recently, unprecedented images have emerged from the streets of Iran: defiant-eyed women ceremoniously cutting their locks in public; headscarves burning on the streets amid plumes of smoke; oceans of nameless demonstrators shouting together in a unified chant—all protesting against forced hijab laws, now behind the veil of government-imposed Internet shutdowns.

Almost 20 years ago, during the height of the War on Terror, a Muslim schoolgirl in France took a similar action and publicly shaved her head in front of an audience of protesters, international media, and press cameras, making global headlines in a pre-social media era.

Except, she was protesting for her right to wear it.

This is no contradiction. Muslim women across the East and West have been fighting for the same thing for decades: the right to choose.

Mahsa Amini, whose Kurdish first name is Jhina, sparked a national outcry when the 22-year-old died in police custody in Tehran on Sept. 16. Amini was arrested and beaten by Iran’s “morality police”—the government agency used to enforce mandatory hijab rules—for “bad hijab,” or what they deemed to be an inappropriate form of dress. While the “morality police” asserts itself as a spiritual authority, the reality is that it’s a government invention with no theological existence in Islam that manipulates religion to assert control over people. In Iran, the morality police use hijab as a tool to essentially diminish Iranian women from the public space, intimidating women across the country to stay home.

While commonly equated to the headscarf, hijab is the universal concept of modesty applied to both men and women’s Islamic lifestyle. While the headscarf is a physical practice of hijab, it is intended to apply to all facets of one’s life—from your attitude to your actions to even your way of thinking—with the purpose of promoting compassion and sanctifying personal autonomy. For example, the first requirement of physical hijab is the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, to “lower your gaze”—placing the onus on one’s personal actions first and foremost, rather than blaming or interfering with another person’s hijab. At its spiritual foundation, the core of hijab is personal choice: the only “good hijab” is one with intention; the only “bad hijab” is one that’s forced.

That’s why at the same time as Iranian women are fighting with their lives for their right to take their headscarves off, Indian women are fighting for their right to keep them on. This March, in the face of increasing Hindu nationalism and widespread anti-Muslim violence, an Indian court upheld a policy allowing schools in the state of Karnataka to ban the hijab, provoking attacks targeting Indian Muslim women and girls. In 2021, Muslim women launched the viral social media hashtag #HandsOffMyHijab after French officials voted to ban young Muslim women and girls from wearing the hijab in public.

The truth is that laws forcing Muslim women to wear headscarves or take them off represent two sides of the same coin: controlling Muslim women’s right to choose. Hijab laws have nothing to do with religion or secularism. At best, they are a form of state-sanctioned sexual harassment; at worst, they represent the systemic subjugation of Muslim women, no matter what society they exist in.

Mahsa Amini and countless others have lost their lives over Iran’s hijab laws; countless more are risking their lives by hitting the streets and expressing themselves on social media. But their fight for freedom is not an exception. It’s time for us to have nuanced conversations around hijab and the way it has been used as a tool and a litmus test for how we view Muslim women. The worst thing that can happen is for the world to respond to Iranian women’s bravery by using it to oppress Muslim women elsewhere in the world under the guise of liberation.

As the United States grapples with its own war over women’s bodies in the form of abortion rights, it’s clear that the desire to control women transcends religion, political ideology and even cultural spheres. Now, Iranian women are beating the drum, calling on women all over the world to claim a revolutionary truth: Our bodies are on our terms.

This Is The Laser Kim Kardashian Uses on Her Abs

There’s an unwritten rule in the world of aesthetics: If Kim Kardashian is doing it, people will be interested. Such is the case with InMode Morpheus8, a minimally invasive treatment Kardashian posted about recently on her Instagram Stories.

“This is a game changer! I did Morpheus laser to tighten my stomach,” Kardashian captioned a photo of her bare abs and tagging Los Angeles-based celebrity plastic surgeon Ashkan Ghavami, MD. She added, “I think this is my fave laser but it’s painful lol but worth it!”

If you were intrigued by the star’s new “fave laser,” you weren’t alone. Searches spiked for the treatment after the post—though Dr. Ghavami says there remains a fair amount of apprehension. “Surprisingly, we have found that patients are a bit more cautious and do a lot more research prior to contacting us,” says the plastic surgeon. But, he says, “There is no gimmick here. [Kardashian] trusts our recommendations and treatments so much that she actually decided to film herself having Morpheus8 done in our office without us knowing that she took photos during her session. She felt so great about her Morpheus8 results in our office that she was candid with her followers and decided to share her experience.”

Want to know more about the skin-tightening treatment? We spoke to Dr. Ghavami himself, as well as New York City-based dermatologist Michelle Henry, MD, to find out everything you need to know about InMode Morpheus8 before booking.

naturally fit and beautiful

g-stockstudio//Getty Images

What is InMode Morpheus8?

As previously mentioned, Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive treatment that combines microneedling and radio frequency (RF). It contours and tones both the face and body, creates a smoother and tighter appearance, and—best of all—is safe for all skin tones.

“Morpheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis,” explains Dr. Henry. “By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, tissues of the face and body can be remodeled to reveal a more radiant youthful appearance.”

The microneedling component adds to the treatment’s efficacy—and healing. “Because there are micropins that are penetrating the skin, it creates micro lesions that heal faster than traditional methods of skin resurfacing,” adds Dr. Henry. And unlike other skin treatments that affect only the top layers of the dermis, Morpheus8 “Treats wrinkles down to fat depending on depth and energy level,” explains Henry, adding that “Morpheus8 Body is specifically designed for larger and deeper tissue treatments.”

What are the benefits?

In short, the treatment “stimulates the production of collagen and resurfaces skin to discover a younger looking appearance,” explains Dr. Henry. And although Kardashian uses the treatment to tighten her abs, it’s especially popular because it can address multiple areas and concerns at once, says Dr. Ghavami: “I have found that Morpheus8 has helped with textural issues, minimizing pore size, tightening and lifting skin, and even smoothing tone and color in some patients.” It can even be used for skin concerns like acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and stretch marks.

Here’s the key: It’s designed with dual hand pieces and four fractional tips with different pin configurations that give it increased functionality for different body parts. There’s Morpheus8 for smaller treatment areas—think jawline, nasolabial folds, around the eyes, and arms—and Morpheus8 Body for larger body areas like the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. Your doctor will determine which one is right for you, depending on what you want to address.

How long does it take to see results?

Expect to see results fairly quickly. “This specific treatment is especially popular because most patients see a visible difference from just one treatment, whereas other treatments may take a series of three to six treatments to see a visible improvement,” says Dr. Ghavami. Even better, he says, “The downtime is also minimal, with less than one to two days for most [people].”

Dr. Henry agrees, saying that “visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks the most noticeable results appear.” Plus, “improvements continue up to three months after treatment.” That said, the effects aren’t permanent; annual visits are recommended to maintain results.

celebrity sightings in portofino

NINO//Getty Images

Are there any side effects?

Kim K may have called the laser “painful,” but compared to other treatments, Morpheus8 has relatively few side effects when done correctly. “Numbing cream or injections are used when applicable,” says Dr. Henry. “With numbing cream, it is usually tolerable at moderate energies but may be slightly uncomfortable depending on your tolerance. With numbing injections, it is very well tolerated even at the highest energies,” says the derm.

Following the treatment, you may see some redness and/or swelling, as well as tiny dots or scabs where needles entered the skin.

How much does it cost?

With so many benefits, Morpheus8 doesn’t come cheap: It ranges from $1,000 to $3,000 per treatment, depending on the treatment area, where you’re located, and the practitioner you see. And again, don’t forget to budget in annual treatments to maintain results. Looking for a provider? You can find a recommendation for a practitioner on the official InMode website.
